2025 Honda Accord vs. Honda Civic Specs

The 2025 Accord and 2025 Civic sedans offer exceptional fuel efficiency and robust power, made possible by gasoline and hybrid engines. Plus, they are both spacious for their respective classes and come with a long list of amenities.

The Civic has a more competitive starting MSRP, but this is mainly because the Accord offers more power, a larger build, additional trim levels, and more bells and whistles overall. See how they compare in further detail below.

2025 Honda Accord vs. Honda Civic Performance

2025 Honda Accord vs. Honda Civic Performance

When it comes to the Honda Accord vs. Honda Civic engines, each offers two choices: gasoline and hybrid. For the Honda Accord, the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, standard in (and exclusive to) the LX and SE trims, produces 192 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain delivers an excellent EPA-estimated 29/37/32 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).1

Alternatively, the hybrid powertrain standard in (and exclusive to) the top four Accord trims comprises a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, achieving 204 combined horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. Most of the Accord hybrid trims offer an EPA-estimated 46/41/44 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).1

The EX-L Hybrid trim, however, boasts an EPA-estimated 51/44/48 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).1 This excellent fuel efficiency is thanks in part to the electronic continuously variable transmission the hybrid powertrain works with. A continuously variable transmission mates with the gasoline engine.

The first two Honda Civic trims come exclusively equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, putting out 150 horsepower and 133 pound-feet of torque. You get the highest mileage for this powertrain when you select the starter LX trim: an EPA-estimated 32/41/36 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).1

Meanwhile, the top two trims are hybrid-powered and feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two motors, which generates 200 combined horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque. The Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid deliver the best overall fuel rating for the Honda Civic at an EPA-estimated 50/47/49 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).1 The 2025 Civic offers the same transmission options as the 2025 Accord, but it adds paddle shifters to its continuously variable transmission.

All told, the new Honda Accord and Honda Civic both offer excellent MPG specs for their respective powertrains. The Accord produces a bit more power than the Civic when comparing the gasoline engines, but these two sedans rival each other in terms of hybrid output.

2025 Honda Accord vs. Honda Civic Dimensions

When it comes to size, it is important to start by noting that these sedans are in different classes. The Honda Accord is a midsize sedan, which explains its larger exterior dimensions and cargo space area. Meanwhile, the Honda Civic is a compact sedan, making it ideal for tight turning, street parking, and maneuvering narrow city streets.

Interior dimensions are pretty similar between these models, but rear hip room followed by rear legroom is where they differ most. In terms of passenger volume, the Accord has up to 105.7 cubic feet and the Civic offers 99 cubic feet.

I recently bought an Accord and had an excellent experience at DARCARS Honda in Bowie. Henry Ajayi, the salesperson, was kind and listened to the things I looked for in a car. He negotiated a fair price with me and communicated throughout the process of getting the car onsite. Shahrooz Forouzandeh, the finance manager, was patient, thorough, and efficient in guiding me through the buying process and all the paperwork. The entire staff, from reception to sales to parts, was courteous and pleasant to interact with. I would buy from them again.
