Braking and Stability
The larger the vehicle, the more braking power is required to keep you and all your passengers safe. That’s why this three-row SUV has standard ABS, an electronic brake distribution program, and Brake Assist. The Pilot also has the Vehicle Stability Assist™ system with implemented traction control.
The Stability Assist can keep the SUV balanced and controlled during acceleration, deceleration, and turning via onboard sensors that watch for the risk of traction loss. This Assist can tone down the throttle and brake each wheel independently to get you back on track.
Honda Sensing®
Honda implemented several warning systems to help ensure that you make sound decisions and maneuvers only when it’s safe to do so. The Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist System, Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System, and Road Departure Mitigation System all work together to keep you centered in your lane a safe distance away from the traffic ahead of you. These programs can make subtle adjustments to steering on your behalf.
The included Adaptive Cruise Control has an additional Low-Speed Follow program that allows the SUV to slow itself to a complete stop without driver input. When setting the cruise control, you’ll also be prompted to choose between a short, middle, long, or extra-long following distance interval, and the Pilot will take over the throttle and braking to help maintain this distance.
Traffic Sign Recognition
A camera located on the Pilot’s front end can sense and read road signs, such as speed limit signs. The system will display these signs on your instrument cluster. This is a great way to help ensure you don’t miss any road signs and you maintain the correct speed.
